BASF Corporation warrants that for ten (10) years from the date of original purchase, this Performance Certified Carpet, when installed and maintained as recommended by BASF will retain at least 90% of it’s pile fiber, subject to the following limitations:

This warranty does not cover use of cut pile carpet on stairs. This warranty does not cover tears, burns or cuts, or pile loss or damage due to improper use of the application of improper cleaning agents or maintenance methods or lack of protection under roller caster chairs. If dissatisfied with the wear performance, the owner must notify the carpet manufacturer and permit BASF to test the carpet. Subject to the foregoing, if the carpet is found to have lost more than 10% of its pile fiber, BASF will replace the original carpet in the affected room or area, free of charge, including installation except that no charges for moving or replacing equipment, furnishings, partitions, etc., will be allowed.

This warranty is applicable only to BASF Performance Certified carpets made from Zefton® nylon. Installation in a traffic environment unsuitable for the carpet (as specified in the BASF assigned traffic class) OR failure to sustain a routine carpet maintenance program (as indicated in the BASF Guidelines for Maintenance and Cleaning of Commercial Carpets brochure) will void these warranties.

Barrett Carpet Mills warrants that this carpet will not generate static electricity in excess of 3 kilovolts (tested according to AATCC 134) for the five years following its installation, provided that it is installed¹ and maintained² indoors according to Barrett recommendations.

This warranty is prorated based on five years of service and is not transferable. It excludes the effects of improper installation¹ and maintenance², and willful damage.

If, after testing the carpet according to AATCC 134, Barrett determines that the carpet has generated in excess of 3 kilovolts and that all warranty conditions have been met, Barrett will replace or compensate the owner pro rata for: (1) the original material cost of the carpet for the area directly affected, and (2) provide a reasonable installation allowance as determined by Barrett. This warranty is void unless all seams are properly sealed when the carpet is installed.

This warranty is void unless all seams are properly sealed when the carpet is installed.

If, after testing the carpet, Barrett determines that running or edge raveling has occurred and that all warranty conditions have been met, Barrett will replace or compensate the owner pro rata for: (1) the original material cost of the carpet for the area directly affected, and (2) provide a reasonable installation allowance as determined by Barrett.

¹ See CRI Installation Standard 104.

² See CRI Carpet and Rug Care Guide.

Claims must include a letter from a professional cleaner describing the spot and the cleaning procedures applied, with a statement that the spot could not be removed. Barrett may elect to have its cleaner re-service the spot. If this service removes the spot, the consumer shall pay for this service. If Barrett determines that a stain persists and that all warranty conditions have been met, Barrett will replace or compensate the owner on a pro rata basis for: (1) the original material cost for the carpet for the area affected, and (2) provide a reasonable installation allowance as determined by Barrett.

  2. Spots from chemical spills that degrade or destroy the nylon fiber are also excluded.
  3. Appearance change from pile distortion is not considered a stain. Please refer to the Carpet and Rug Institute’s Carpet and Rug Care Guide for spot removal instructions, since inappropriate scrubbing can cause pile distortion.

To make a warranty claim:

- The owner must have implemented a comprehensive maintenance program in accordance with the CRI publication, "Carpet and Rug Care Guide".

 - The owner must have attempted to remove the stain within three days of the spill occurrence using methods and cleaning agents outlined in the CRI’s "Carpet and Rug Care Guide".. If this cleaning was unsuccessful, the owner must have immediately hired an accredited professional cleaner to remove the stain. If this professional cleaning was unsuccessful, the owner may submit a claim in writing to the carpet contractor or retailer that supplied the carpet. The written claim must include the original bill of sale, a non-returnable uninstalled carpet sample for testing by Barrett, and a letter from the professional cleaner describing the spot and the cleaning procedures applied, with a statement that the spot could not be removed.

If, under testing and analysis performed by Barrett, the tested carpet or cleaned area is found to have a rating of less than 4.0 on the AATCC Gray Scale for Evaluating Change in Color, Barrett will designate a professional cleaner to attempt to remove the stain (the owner must provide timely access). If Barrett’s cleaner is unsuccessful, Barrett will pay for this cleaning and replace the carpet in the affected area, up to 100 times the area of the stain. If the stain is removed by Barrett’s cleaner, all cleaning costs will be the responsibility of the owner.

Barrett may, at its option, refund the owner the purchase price for the carpet in the area affected, up to 100 times the area of the stain, plus installation as outlined herein. Labor charges relating to floor preparation and the movement of equipment and furnishings are excluded from this non-transferable warranty. Allowable re-installation labor costs are limited to (1) $4 per square yard or (2) $100 when the area affected is less than 25 square yards.

If any area of carpet fails to perform as stated above, then Barrett will attempt to repair the non-conforming area to conform with this limited warranty or, if Barrett determines repair is not possible, then Barrett may, at its election, refund a pro-rated portion of the original purchased price or replace the non-performing area and shall be subject to the pro-ration schedule below. Further, any replacement is expressly limited to the cost of the carpet and does not include the cost of installation, inspections or other costs.
